NEW!! Husqvarna T542iXP chainsaw FIRST IMPRESSIONS
This is an in-depth look at the latest professional grade battery powered top handled chainsaw from Husqvarna, the T542i XP. We look at all the changes and evolutions made by Husqvarna on this saw. We do an in-depth dive into why Husqvarna have developed this new model which looks almost identical. Why Husqy have seen a benefit that the clutch gives over the direct drive of the T540i XP. We also put it to the test and do some side by side cut tests against the previous model T540i XP. Will there be an obvious difference when these saws are cutting larger pieces of wood.
In this video we are using the saw with a 14"bar.

REEVE system NIGHTMARE! What is wrong with the system??

In this video you will see us set up a very elaborate rigging system using what is known as a reeve system. The idea is to drop all the branches from the pruning. Bundle them up, and lift them up above the house on the Reeve system, then haul them over to where the chipper is parked. Somewhere in the setup just wasn't right and the system just wouldn't work correctly. There was so much force ne...

excellent. i was wondering about this cut and failed to see how useful it can be in urban environments especially. good one. how about this 'steering' a tree by working on the hinge as it comes down? can someone explain that to me? is it that the tree is coming down square to the hinge as you'd expect and you see you've cut the hinge wrong or something and it's not going where you want to you 'change' the hinge as it is coming down? and you 'change' it by cutting a bit away at one side or other? And that makes the hinge 'wedge shaped' ? and the back of that wedge, the side nearest you, decides the direction of the hinge, the direction at right angles to which the tree will come down? Is that it? And you do all that in the two or three seconds as the thing is coming down?

To keep ticks off your skin, wear tight woven natural fabrics that cover all your skin (long sleeves and pants), and because ticks alway crawl upward, layer your clothes so that the highest garments are tucked into the next lower garment (shirt into pants, pants into socks, etc) in this way your clothes always shunt a climbing tick outward, away from your skin. If in the woods, wear a hoodie drawn tight to your face, because ticks can sense body heat and drop down on you from the trees above. When you get back to your home or a protected indoor environment, strip your outer clothes off on a porch or other room you don't live in, and put the contaminated clothes immediately into a washing machine with plenty of soap (soap helps the water drown insects and arachnids like ticks), then take a shower and comb your exposed hair with a nit comb to make sure you don't have ticks in your hair. Once you are clean and in clean clothes, you can relax in your tick free home, assuming you don't have other creatures going outside and bringing ticks back with them, like children or pets. If ticks get brought in they can hide in your carpet or furniture, and breed and feed on all living creatures inside, and they can be very hard to eradicate.

That’s a clever technique! Not one to be used regularly, certainly useful in tight situations. Well done! 👍

Use the 6.0 forge battery on the milwaukee. Less weight but the power of a 12.0. Now for run time use the 12.0. Can't wait till the 12.0 forge battery comes out ! Game changer ! Try it then and report back if you have time ! Thank you very much !

Problem with having pol belt and life line above rigging sling is that if it’s a skinny part of the trunk and you get flung around due to a mistake or whatever from guy on rope you can get flung off and over the top of the trunk as your really close to your cut,I always go one above sling and one below sling, about a 1/2 foot below sling as iv never had a sling slide down on a choke off specially if you take 2 wraps around before choking off,the slight amount it does travel down dosnt seem to interfere with second pole strap

I will try this tomorrow. 🙂 Of course if you do not cut the notch strait, it can quickly become a lock that will prevent the tree from falling.. (If you look at it from the top and the angle is thicker in the direction it is supposed to fall..) \ / wrong - I I correct.

Another thing is how used to the saw you are. If you're just starting out, don't get a gigantic saw for trimming trees smaller than a soda can. I started on a Stihl MS180c. Ran that little sucker forever. Then I got a Stihl MS250. The first saw I actually used was a Stihl (Don't remember the exact number) Farmboss. I was smaller, Scrawny. The saw was heavy, it ended up running across my leg. Luckily I was wearing chaps. But that's when I got the MS180c and worked up to the Stihl MS 250. Used the 250 until it started feeling like I was cranking sand. I retired it.

I too have been skeptical of the "home owner grade" pole pruners after moving up to Marvin/Jameson commercial grade pole pruners. This Fiskars Power Stroke pole pruner, however, is the Bomb. Everything you have said about it is spot on. This lightweight, well designed pruner can reach remarkedly high up into the canopy, especially when combined with a step ladder or tripod/orchard ladder. Thanks Dan for the recommendation!

It isn't the battery that makes the tool as good as it is. Husqvarna is using ancient technology at this point compared to Milwaukee or Dewalt. If they used a similar battery as Husky they would blow the Swedes out of the water.
